RUBY AT WORK

In 2003, Ruby was found in an abandoned house starving, and her fur was falling out. Sick as she was, her tail was always wagging, giving gentle kisses. After a couple of weeks treatment in a doggie hospital, Ruby was ready for foster care, that's where we came in. With her kind heart, happy demeanor and sharp mind, Ruby won our hearts and our families hearts. Even our existing "dog" family looked kindly upon Ruby. Well, fostering lasted only a few days, by then she was family, and in the end, we adopted her.

Shortly thereafter, she entered obedience classes at Total Recall School for Dogs in Hugo, Minnesota. Ruby still attends almost every Thursday (continuing education you know!) Having recently lost a TDI therapy dog to cancer, we knew Ruby, the kind little unassuming, happy politician had the right stuff. Late 2006 she received her own TDI Certification.

Currently, Ruby continues to win hearts and change minds about her breed, with her weekly visits to Croixdale Senior Residence in Bayport, Minnesota and Parmly Residence for Seniors in Chisago City, Minnesota.

Her great balance of being VERY laid back, yet a sense of fun when called upon, works well with the senior residents. At times, she curls up, snuggling next to a resident, quickly falling asleep... a very comforting and secure feeling for the seniors.

Still, when asked, she is as playful as a puppy. More residences are calling for visits from Ruby or Venus, our other therapy dog. We will accommodate on an "as we can basis."

Additionally, Ruby auditioned for "Cheaper By The Dozen" at Lakeshore Players in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. She did well, but was rejected outright because of her breed. When the "other dog" didn't work out, Ruby was called back and cast in the part with only a few weeks of rehearsals left, and the rest is history. Despite some cast misgivings at first, Ruby worked her magic and they fell in love, and so did the audiences!!!

Ruby was given some nice print media as well with many articles written about her, including a couple with front-page colored pictures in the White Bear Press! Click on links below to read article:

Ruby continues to win those hearts and change minds, making many people VERY happy along the way!
